WORLD FAMOUS ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS COLLABORATES WITH '1916 THE MUSICAL'

April 2010,The ‘1916 The Musical’ creative team have been busy  recording the long awaited concept CD at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, now owned by EMI. The CD will showcase six of the most powerful tracks from the show, giving listeners an exclusive taste of how this stunning new musical is developing.

Produced by the 1916  creative team of professionals in partnership with Abbey Road, ‘1916 The Musical’ is a new, ground breaking epic stage musical, based on the historic events which took place during the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin. Within this arena, ‘1916 The Musical’ follows the trials and tribulations of real-life historical and fictional characters, woven together with a highly charged, emotional human story of love and betrayal.

 

After hearing the unique, sound of ‘1916 The Musical’, industry bosses from Abbey Road instantly recognised its winning potential and were keen to collaborate on the project.

 

The recording of the emotionally charged musical, directed by creative producer Sean Ferris, features the unforgettable score by David Christmas, with orchestrations by Stuart Hancock and Wayne Urquhart and book/libretto by Simon Humphreys. The recording involves an orchestra featuring a wide variety of traditional Irish instruments and a 20 strong cast, all under the direction of vocal director Jamie Anderson and Musical Director Marc Naylor.  

 

Abbey Road has collaborated with many major artists since its opening in 1931, from Edward Elgar, Noel Coward and Glenn Miller to The Beatles and Pink Floyd and is universally recognised as one of the world’s most technically advanced recording and mixing facilities.

 

Likened to ‘Les Miserables’, ‘1916 The Musical’ welcomes the support of Abbey Road as it moves towards its premiere in Ireland.
